Here are two short extracts from our video creation, as part of the sound, light and fireworks show named « The Republican Assault », organized by the city of La Seyne sur Mer for the 200th anniversary of Napoleon’s death, on Saturday September 25.
The city of La Seyne sur Mer has a special history with Napoleon, because this is where a great feat of arms, the victorious siege of Toulon against England in 1793, helped to restore the Republic in France.
The Convention army, known as the Carmagnoles army, liberated the city of La Seyne sur Mer from the Anglo-Spanish and Neapolitan fleets.
Napoleon, then a young officer, succeeded in a decisive action against the current Napoleon’s Fort, then took over Eguillette and Balaguier’s Forts, and finally liberated the city of Toulon.
